3 Days – Discovery Siem Reap & Birth Places of Angkor – Private Tour

Morning:  8am Pick up (flexible time) after breakfast we start our journey to explore the main temples in the big circuit before continue to the outlying temple call Banteay Srei, we fist stop at

• Preah Khan “the Royal Sword” is a temple built in the 12th century for King Jayavarman VII to honor his father. it is flat in design, with a basic plan of successive rectangular galleries around a Buddhist sanctuary complicated by Hindu satellite temples and numerous later additions. the temple has been left largely unrestored, with numerous trees and other vegetation growing among the ruins.

• Neak Pean “the entwined serpents” is an artificial island with a Mahayana Buddhist temple on a circular island in Jayatataka Baray, which was associated with Preah Khan temple, built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII.

• Ta som is a small temple built at the end of the 12th century for King Jayavarman VII, dedicated the temple to his father Dharanindravarman II who was King of the Khmer Empire from 1150 to 1160. The temple consists of a single shrine located on one level and surrounded by enclosure laterite walls.

• East Mebon is a 10th Century temple, built during the reign of King Rajendravarman of combined brick, laterite and sandstone construction, it stands on what was an artificial island at the center of the now dry East Baray reservoir.

Afternoon: Make your way to one of the nearby restaurants and try with the local dish at your own expense. After Lunch we continue continue to:

• Banteay Samre “The Citadel of the Samré” is a temple built during the reign of Suryavarman II and Yasovarman II in the early 12th century, it is a Hindu temple in the Angkor Wat style. It was excellently restored by Maurice Glaize from 1936 until 1944.

• Pre Rup meaning “turn the body”. is a Hindu temple at Angkor, Cambodia, built as the state temple of Khmer king Rajendravarman of combined brick, laterite and sandstone construction. This reflects the common belief among Cambodians that funerals were conducted at the temple, with the ashes of the body being ritually rotated in different directions, if time permit we wait for sunset on the top of the temple

• Banteay Srei “The Citadel of the Lady” is a 10th century CE, temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and Parvati. the temple is built largely of red sandstone, a medium that lends itself to the elaborate decorative wall carvings which are still observable today. The buildings themselves are miniature in scale, unusually so when measured by the standards of Angkorian construction. These factors have made the temple extremely popular with tourists, and have led to its being widely praised as the jewel of Khmer art.

• Phnom Kulen is major symbolic importance for Cambodia as the birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire dating 804 CE. it considered a holy mountain in Cambodia, of special religious significance to Hindus and Buddhists, there is Preah Ang Thom, a 16th-century Buddhist monastery notable for the giant reclining Buddha, the country’s largest. Along the river has a lot of figures of Yoni and Linga spreading out at the bottom of the river, and the water flow over the 1000 lingas become the holy waterfall for citizen (bring the swimming suite and enjoy the at waterfall pool)
• Beng Mealea the history of the temple is unknown and it can be dated only by its architectural style, identical to Angkor Wat, so scholars assumed it was built during the reign of king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century. The gallery which forms the outer enclosure of the temple is 181 m by 152 m. It was the center of a town, surrounded by a moat 1025 m by 875 m large and 45 m wide, it is largely unrestored, with trees and thick brush thriving amidst its towers and courtyards and many of its stones lying in great heaps, make the temple become one of the most attractions site for tourists.
